The Centre for Short-term Statistics

The Statistical Office in Poznań specializes in carrying out nationwide tasks performed for official statistics as a whole in the area of Short-term Statistics (STS). These tasks are carried out by the Centre for Short-term Statistics, along with its Branches in Kalisz, Konin, Leszno, and Piła.

STS surveys conducted at the Centre in accordance with its specialization are carried out on the following forms:

  • DG-1 – Report on economic activity,
  • Annex to the DG-1 report for construction enterprises,
  • C-01 – Report on producer prices of products and services,
  • C-01b – Report on producer prices of construction and assembly works.

The Centre operates divided into two departments:

Methodology and Programming Department: develops, implements and updates Statistical Survey IT Systems, calculates DG-1 survey data by kind-of-activity unit (KAU), conducts design and programming work supporting data analysis, undertakes methodological work aimed e.g. at increasing the use of administrative data, cooperates with co-authoring units regarding the updating of survey guidelines and in the area of adaptation to European statistics requirements, prepares information from selected STS (Short-Term Statistics) areas for reporting to Eurostat, prepares survey registers, updates the Statistical Units Register (BJS), and supervises the implementation of technological tasks in the Survey Execution Department and its Branches.

Research Implementation Division: collects, edits, preliminarily analyzes, and approves survey data at the voivodeship (regional) level, as well as in selected areas at the national level. It also provides substantive supervision over the implementation of surveys in the Branch Offices, updates guidelines for electronic forms, cooperates with co-authoring units regarding the updating of survey guidelines, collects data for other surveys (excluding STS) conducted by the Office, and is responsible for direct contact with reporting units.

Data collected via the monthly DG-1 report serve as the basis for calculating short-term indicators and meet the requirements of European statistics. Based on the data acquired in the survey, assessments are made of individual economic sectors (manufacturing, construction, retail and wholesale trade, accommodation and food service activities, transportation, warehousing, information and communication, professional, scientific and technical activities, administrative and support service activities) regarding the basic indicators of enterprise activity: sales, domestic and non-domestic turnover, new domestic and non-domestic orders in selected manufacturing divisions, employment and average remuneration, hours worked, and industrial sold production indicators. In addition, the report serves as a source of data on the structure of sales revenues, which is used as a weighting system in the calculation of producer price indices in industry and construction.
